Our Amazing Lesson Horses

Our horses are the foundation of our program. Each

of them has a unique story to share and lots of love.

We are blessed to share our lives with them.

Sprinkles

Mustang/Quarter Horse Cross Adopted September 2020

Sprinkles was rounded up on a private farmers land in Idaho in early 2020. The farmer released several quarter horse mares with the band of wild mustangs that passed through his acerage then rounded up the offspring and sold them to the local livestock auction for meat prices.

Our Sprinkles boy, we are so grateful that your kind and gentle spirit made its way to our program.

When Sprinkles first came to us he was emotionally shut down and bucky. Once he came out of his shell and accepted our training methods (plus a couple amazing rides by Matt when he first came) he has become a valuable member of our program.

When he's not helping build confidence and being an all around goof ball we enjoy galloping through the woods, extreme trail rides, endurance rides, barrel racing, and cow sorting.

Annie

Annie is a Shetland pony that is in her late teens.

In her previous life she was a carousel pony who had several untreated medical conditions. After purchasing her we found out that she has Irritable Bowel Disease and Insulin Resistance.

Currently these diseases are both well managed with careful diet and exercise management.

Annie loves all people, enjoys trail rides (especially with Mariah's daughter Olivia), barrel races, junior rodeo, showmanship, and cart rides.

Her kind and loving disposition has helped many children fall in love with horses.

Tater Tot

Tater Tot came to us when we desperately needed another lesson horse as the couple we leased did not work out for what we needed. We were told he is a retired racing Quarter Horse from Mexico that was out racing cartel horses. His first owners were told to stop racing him or the cartel would kill him. Because of Tater’s amazing disposition he was made into a pony horse for the horses at the track. He went through a couple more homes making his way to the PNW.

We purchased him from a horse trader. He was thin with a poor hair coat. But, he was so kind and loving. We knew he would make an amazing lesson horse with some TLC.

Little did we know he had never had his teeth done (he had ulcers all the way on both sides of his mouth from the sharp points slicing his checks when he ate and his upper teeth had grown 2” into his bottom gums) and the stress of moving again, being vaccinated, and being unable to fully process his food due to his poor dentition caused him to have a severe case of colic only 4 days after we’d purchased him.

Our amazing barn owner took care of him until we could get there. When the vets from Sound came they recommended transferring him to Pillchuck and that surgery would probably be the only way to save him. My truck was in the shop so our amazing barn owner drove us to Pillchuck. It was touch and go for a couple days as he wouldn’t eat for the staff, but when we’d all sit in his stall and love him and hold his food for him he would eat. So every day my amazing friends took turns taking me to see him, as my truck was still in the shop. Then for several months we had to be very careful and follow strict rest instructions followed by a return to work program.

He is a sensitive soul that needs a kind rider and handler. If you have a sense of humor and kindness Tater will move mountains for you. He does not do well when he’s yelled at or treated poorly which we do not tolerate in our program.

Following his colic surgery he loves to give hugs. He will pull you towards him and close his eyes as he rests on you.

Cheeto Puff

Joined the herd in fall 2023

Cheeto is a hafflinger cross mare. She was purchased from the Eugene Auction by her previous owners in an attempt to turn her into an english lesson horse. Cheeto was kept at a previous barn we boarded at and we loved her from the moment they brought her home. Cheeto has incredibly smooth movement and a kind disposition, but she greatly prefers western riding. Cheeto loves trail rides, dabbling in gaming events, kisses and cookies.

Twix

Joined the herd in February 2024

Twix is a very sweet mare. Her previous owners purchased her at auction and didn't end up having the time to spend with him that she needed, so for 4 years she mainly lived in a stall with very little outside interaction. The only times she got out of her stall was to lunge have a hard ride and be put up.

She is being partially leased by a wonderful student of ours, but will also still be an intricate part of the lesson program and camps.

Twix loves children, being groomed, eating cookies (very softly), and realizing humans can have you work, but that you will also get lots of love. She came to us with her best friend Slurpee.

Pretzel

Pretzel is a very sweet and uniquely colored mare. Who joined our program February 2025. She is a half sister to our amazing mare Galaxy, that we all love.

Pretzel was unfortunately mistreated for many years and passed through several homes before she ended up in the home we got her from. Thankfully they saved her from the situation she was in. They spent a lot of time rehabbing her body, hooves, and helping her learn to trust while also respecting healthy boundaries.

We are very excited to watch her progress into the amazing horse we know she can be.

Poptart is still young, but will someday be a great cart horse.

Romeo is a miniature horse that was given to Kaya as a Christmas gift when he was just 5 months old. His parents are National award winning cart drivers and he will follow in their footsteps as he gets a little older. He is only 4 now and not quite ready to pull the cart. Romeo is the sweetest boy and he adores kids. He has the biggest brown eyes and draws people to him with his love and kindness.

Chai and Nutmeg

Rescued from the Devils Garden, CA Jan. 23, 2023

Chai was born in the wild in the desert of NE California in an area known as the Devils Garden in 2019. She lived in the wild having one previous foal before Nutmeg.

In September 2022 Chai was rounded up by the Forestry Service and placed into a holding pen with many other mares. She was tagged with a neck collar for identification and given the number 5514. Chai foaled a beautiful and healthy filly (Nutmeg) on November 26, 2022.

On January 23, 2023 we were able to bring these lovely ladies home. They settled in incredibly well, and have been making incredible progress each day!

Both of these stunning creatures will eventually be lesson horses for our program.

Unfortunately Nutmeg ended up passing away at 7 months old due to complications from an umbilical hernia she was born with.

Buddy

Yakima WA Mustang Born Early 2020

Buddy passed away in the fall of 2023. It broke our hearts to loose him.

Buddy was rescued from the Sunny Side Kill Pen by a local rescue in 2020. He was very wormy, terrified, and had a runny nose.

He was adopted initially by an amazing older woman as her first horse and he learned that humans can be kind and loving. While at the initial rescue he developed some bad habits due to lack of training, adverse training methods, and correct equipment. He quickly grew into an unruly boy that had a habit of breaking out of almost every enclosure and developed a biting tendency.

We have worked hard since he came into our lives to teach him humans are kind, but that he also has to be respectful. He is maturing into a wonderful horse.

Slurpee

Joined the herd in February 2024, Passed away due to HYPP complications February 2025. We will forever miss you, handsome boy.

Slurpee is an amazingly sweet gelding. His previous owners purchased him at auction and didn't end up having the time to spend with him that he needed, so for 4 years he mainly lived in a stall with very little outside interaction.

He is being partially leased by a wonderful student of ours, but will also still be an intricate part of the lesson program and camps.

Slurpee loves children, cookies, having a job, and being groomed. He came to us with his best friend Twix.
